La Façade de l'édifice algérois du XIX ème-XXème Cohérence et système oppositionnel

Abstract

The work presented in this thesis is part of the study and comparative analysis of a set of facades of buildings from the colonial era. In view of their heritage values and importance in national history, we have proposed to carry out an analytical study to identify their characteristics. The context for this study is the downtown area of Algiers. Our analysis approach consists in making a sharp reading of the elements composing the facade. At the end of this analytical work, we succeeded in identifying the morphological structures of these facades and determining the modalities of their compositions. Our work could serve as a basis for rehabilitation operations when it comes to a fac¸ade of the XIXth and XXth century or to the reinterpretation of this architecture in a more contemporary style.
