| dc.description.abstract | Today the whole world witnesses an intense competition between cities on the issue of development of their territories; the organization of big events is considered as the suitable choice to encourage this development. Among the different types of events, cultural events are the most organized over the last few years, because culture is mainly based on exchanges between peoples on the one hand, and it participates in the development of other cities, on the other hand. First, by improving internal and external image of the host cities, for their help in improving the quality of life of inhabitants, and strengthening the spirit of sharing among themselves, they also participate in the establishment of several urban developments, and finally, these events contribute to the economic and touristic development of cities. Among the Algerian cities, Tlemcen was designated as the capital of Islamic culture in 2011. A decision which is away a choice of chance, as the city of Tlemcen and its entire region has a rich potential in terms of historical monuments, geographical framework, natural and touristic sites... but that does not mean that once Tlemcen was suffering from a lack of infrastructures, especially cultural one, also a lack of population interest in culture. The event of 2011 was a great contribution to Tlemcen: the city had a new face recognized nationally and internationally, moreover it has experienced the realization of a significant number of infrastructure and particularly cultural one, the event also helped to create cultural exchange links, which was also an opportunity to change attitudes of the people, and finally, to boost the economy of the city and its tourism. Big events are not an end themselves, because in addition to their initial purpose; these events are an opportunity to develop the host cities. | |
