Abstract
The urban heat island is a phenomenon of climate change, which affects high-density cities; it is the result of temperature increases in cities compared to their surrounding suburbs. This can have dangerous consequences on the health of the inhabitants and affects their thermal comfort. Urban cool islands help to mitigate urban heat islands through developments that promote the integration of vegetation and water jets into the city.
This research focuses on the perception of urban heat and freshness islands by users of outdoor public spaces and their interactions with their external physical environments, through the method of psychosocial investigation by environmental assessment questionnaire. The case of study selected here is the site of May 1 and the test garden, an area that contains both a mineralized part and a large vegetated area of the city of Algiers (test garden), allowing to study the island of urban heat (May 1) and spawning urban cheur (test garden). .
Analysis of the results confirmed the existence of the urban heat island at the 1st Of May level and to see if this phenomenon really affects the thermal comfort of users of outdoor public spaces in urban areas, it also demonstrated that urban freshness islands are an effective solution against UHI
