Abstract
The historic urban landscape is a set of developed and undeveloped elements progressing over time, often, invested in heritage and socio-cultural values and gaining authenticity.
The historic urban landscape is composed of various urban forms also complex, thus, the morphological analysis is needed. However, in this case it is inadequate. Perceptual analysis is required then. It will identify and assess natural and built elements making up the urban landscape forged by time; these elements will form the overall image of the city.
This study is about this whole vision; it comes first as to clarify these concepts. Second, it contributes in landscape identifying of Constantine’s rock. This will be the fruit of tremendous remarkable natural site on which is rooted succession and stratification of several civilizations through time, in order to grant it today the landscape heritage value.
We will identify how the elements are inserted on a natural site characterized by a unique morphology and how to evaluate this urban landscape shaped over time through a perceptual analysis. We will also support in our study the preservation of this historic urban landscape which implies first its delimitation; it must be based on the definition that must take into account the site values
