Abstract
The comfort of the child in his elementary school is the responsibility of a group of actors, that the architect is a one of them.
Ensuring good quality within the school promotes learning conditions and increases the chances of success. The library, an essential space of the school that contributes to the development of children's knowledge.
In this study, we are interested in the study of the school library in elementary school, for this purpose we have chosen as a case study, an elementary school at our place of residence.
The coordination between architecture and technology, and the link between the pedagogical principles and the architectural project make it possible to improve the reading space and to ensure its environmental quality, since they influence the proper functioning of this library space.
A literature search was first introduced to determine the concepts and terms related to our research subject.Secondly, an experimental approach was carried out to identify the inventory of the library of the Ibn Badis 2 elementary school.
The assessment of hygrothermal comfort (one of the targets of High Environmental Quality) was one of our concerns, as well as the utility and functionality of this space for both children and teachers.
An analysis of the results was developed, which allowed us to offer solutions and recommendations thereafter.
The school’s library must be apparent, attractive by its organization, its layout as well as the richness of its contents and the available activities, in order to urge the children to use it and to encourage them to read.
