Abstract
Today the intervention on the old urban areas and historical sites can no longer
confine itself to technical solutions, it must take into account the social dynamics,
changes of use, the environment, economic development and the preservation of
heritage, this is "sustainable development".
To assess the sustainability of our study site, Mansourah K'bira, we must link the
interests of the integrated conservation of the heritage built to those of sustainable
development. Understanding of environmental sustainability as one which takes into
consideration the economic and social conditions of our site is a necessity. It is through
an environmental approach that can evaluate and develop a system of sustainability
indicators.
To assess the sustainability of a territory, a city, neighborhood or historic site
several approaches are applied to meet the objectives of sustainable development.
Through our research, we will attempt to apply the method HQDIL (heritage-qualitydiversity-
integration-link social) with its practical tools, which is structured around 5
objectives of sustainable development, 21 targets and 61 indicators organized
according to the system (ISDIS).
The effective evaluation of sustainability is done through an operational tool, the
model INDicators Impacts (INDI).
According to the writings, our study site is a historic site in 1152 and although it
has more than 8 centuries of existence, and several heritage values it is not yet
classified. In addition, he recorded several operations renovation of the built
environment and urban improvement in progress.
To measure the sustainability of this site and its profile on the objectives of
sustainable development, this work is to test the validity of the HQDIL method and its
tools in a local context Algerian.
