laboration du canevas de l'Atlas commercial urbain au service de la durabilité des communes de la métropole Algéroise Application sur la commune d'El Mohammadia

Abstract

Trading activity has always been a substantial motion in the city through multiple businesses and commercial trading between people in their defined territory. This importance led the Belgian historian Henri Pirenne to label the city as “a daughter of trading”. Due to its huge potential, retail has shaped the image and the momentum of the city. Nevertheless, after the industrialization era, trading has developed formally and functionally, generating an urban metamorphosis, and impacting the city positively as well as negatively. As a result, the significance of the retail atlas resides in its duality as a collection of commercial and spatial data, as well as helpful decision-making tools for the benefit of relevant parties, providing them with necessary orientations and spatial planning at different scales. However, the retail atlas has yet to be established in Algeria, although the conditions of development, implementation and distribution of trading activity in Algerian cities is challenging, which should be more appealing for local authorities and urban planners to take action. In order to reach the objective.
